Slack confidentially files for IPO

Workplace messaging app Slack has confidentially filed to go public in New York today, following months of speculation on its rumoured listing.

No further details were given as to the timing or pricing of its initial public offering.

Slack last raised a round of financing from venture capital backers in August, banking $420m from lead investors Dragoneer and General Atlantic. The platform has raised almost $1.3bn in funding to date, and is valued at $7.1bn.

A statement from Slack said: "Slack Technologies, Inc. today announced that it has confidentially submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”) relating to the proposed public listing of its Class A common stock. The public listing is expected to take place after the SEC completes its review process, subject to market and other conditions."
