The New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, and bond markets will be closed on Thursday, July 4, as Americans observe the Independence Day federal holiday.

Major U.S. exchanges are open on Wednesday for a half day of trading, but the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500, and the Nasdaq Composite will be at a standstill on Thursday. The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will both close at 1 p.m. E.T. on Wednesday.

The CME Global futures and options exchanges, including equities futures and commodities like crude oil and gold, will remain open until 5 p.m. on Wednesday before closing for the federal holiday.

The S&P 500 has gained 16.5% this year through Monday’s close, while the Dow has risen 13.9%. The Nasdaq has added 20.1%.

The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, or Sifma, an influential financial-industry trade group, has recommended that markets for government bonds and other fixed-income securities close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and remain closed on Thursday.

U.S. markets will reopen on Friday to close out the shortened week of trading.
