Dear John: Come on, people!
Again an excuse for the Dems and the mayor, corporations and hedge funds to gain a profit. Another way of bringing down POTUS.
This new Asian virus coronavirus is an excuse to create cause and effect. There was no reason for the market to drop so many points in the past week.
Yes, there are some major corporations and airlines that deal with China. But the other stocks should not be as affected as indicated. Here again, phony profit gains, as we, the workers, and our 401(k)s suffer at the hands of big business conglomerates.
Why don’t you write about this and expose more of the “fake news.” Yes, we should be concerned for the rest of the world, but it’s China’s fault that caused the problem. Like I said, it’s another excuse the Dems will use against POUTS. C.R.
Dear C.R.: Wow! I really don’t know what to say or where to begin.
In the first place, the stock market barely budged on news that thousands of people in China are infect with the coronavirus and that at least 15 people in the US — as of the time I’m writing — also have the bug.
China is a big market for US goods, and the stock market was hoping it was going to get bigger. Not only that, many companies either make products in China and other Far East countries that are affected by this new disease or get raw materials and parts from the affected areas.
So, the stock market should be worried.
It should be a lot more worried than it is. And it may be by the time this letter makes it into the newspaper.
As for this being some way to get President Trump — POTUS, are you suggesting the disease is being spread on purpose? I don’t think you are, but if so, that’s just plain stupid. I think you should buy one of those masks. Stay healthy.
If you are suggesting people writing about it are spreading “fake news” — which Is I believe your point — then that is also way off the mark.
It’s a news event like many others that happen during any given presidential administration. You and your 401(k) are just going to have to deal with it.
