U.S. shares opened higher Tuesday following a punishing selloff that saw the major stock indexes plunge at the start of the week amid fears of a coronavirus-induced recession.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 345 points, or 1.8% in the early minutes of trading in New York. That followed Monday’s nearly-3,000 point plummet over growing concern that the pandemic was disrupting supply chains and sidelining workers after infecting tens of thousands of people.
